My friend Marilyn and I teach the Cradle Roll class at church. We have the children from birth - or whenever the parents bring them - until they are two. It is so much fun to watch them grow and learn - and they do! We use toys that we have made up song for to teach them about God's love and His creation. (Actually Marilyn makes up the songs.) We move from one song to another since their attention spans are rather short, but they learn what comes first and next and so on. They are so funny to watch.
Right now we have Logan, who is almost a year old (7/28), Kate, who will be 2 in November, Elliott, who will be two on the 27th, and Cheyanne who was 1 in March. We also have new babies due in the next few months. Tyler is due any time and we know his parents will bring him to class. We have twins due in August/September and a little girl due in October. It is fun to know they are coming and hard to let them move to the 2-year old class.
I'll be posting photos and sharing how they grow with you.

We had five little children and three adults this morning! A room full! Literally. Melinda and AJ Johnson have moved back from VA and their little girl, Kaelyn, came to class. She will be 2 on 9/15. Then an older member, Sue, brought her great-grandson Carson, to class. I need to find out when he will be two. I also need to ask her to please leave him and then go to the adult class. We just don't have room for that many people in our room.
In anticipation of having 4 on Wednesday, the 14th. I had Ken take two of our jumper chairs out of the classroom. We added two small wooden chairs so that Kate and Elliott can sit like a big boy and girl. I found out that Elliott had fallen asleep on the way to class and slept all through it. But Kate did pretty well staying in her seat. Sunday we will need three little chairs.
Soon we will have new babies. Tyler Lawson should be here any time!

Tonight we had Logan, Kate, and Cheyanne. I moved two of the jumper seats out of the classroom and moved three little chairs at the table. Kate did pretty good sitting at the table; I made a note that on Sunday to put her at the end of the table so her feet can fit under the table better. Our table is a little like a horseshoe shape, but the table is only open at the outer curves. There are shelves under the table to hold a lot of our teaching toys. Wanda helped me Wednesday and class was good and uneventful.

Today we had four students. Kaelyn and her family were on the road returning home from somewhere and Kate and her mother were in FL. So we had Logan, Cheyanne, Elliott and Carson. I talked with Carson's great-grandmother and learned that his birthday is August 16. She also agreed that our room is small and that she would drop him off and go on to an adult class. Elliott had a little bit of a hard time staying in his seat, but Miss Cassie got a little firm with him and he did better. He did even more better when Carson arrived. Carson recognized "Twinke Twinkle Little Star" when we sang about Day 5 and sang along with the music. When we told the bus children "goodbye", he added, "See you later." Then later he turned to Elliott and said a lot in a language only he knows. It was too funny.

It was a good class tonight. Wanda helped me again and tonight we had Logan, Kaelyn and Elliott. Kate must still be out of town and the rain probably kept Cheyanne from being there. Elliott was so sweet, trying to put his arm around Kaelyn, but she wasn't having any of it. Logan was his usual self, showing us how fast he can stand up in his jumper seat. Ha. He also likes to turn around backwards, but he will turn himself back when you tell him too. This was Kaelyn's first Wednesday night class and she did really well. As she was leaving last night, she noticed the AMINALS on the door. Her mother tried to get her to say animals correctly, but she couldn't. She named all the animals though.

It was nice to have Marilyn back in class today. We had Elliott for his last class with us. He will be 2 years old tomorrow, the 27th. We also had Logan and Kaelyn. We were missing Kate, Colson, and Cheyanne. But we did have a new child, Ziggy, who will be 1 year old on July 31, 2010. We hope that he continues to come.
Living One Day at a Time
Hello there,
I can't really imagine anyone looking at my blog to see what I wrote; however, I hope you will. What I miss the most about being retired is being with and around people. I am definitely a people person.
I greet even strangers with a smile - a genuine smile. I am a happy person. I am likely to strike up a conversation with anyone. I really love children and they seem to like me.
I am a Christian. Hopefully, the beauty of Jesus is seen in me. I strive to treat others the way I want to be treated. Knowing that God has "His eye on the sparrow" encourages me each day. If He cares about the birds, then I know He cares for me.
This blogging experience is so new to me; I hope that I do it justice.
